Adrian Peterson will not be taking any one by surprise in the 2008 fantasy football season. He’s the real deal, and has the potential to be as good as any player in the NFL. Playing for the Vikings only helps, a run heavy offense, with a stingy defense, they will run Peterson early, often and all season long. Also, with his speed, playing on turf only enhances his strengths.
With no other clear cut leader on offense, you may think teams would key in on him. They tried in 2007, didn’t work. Won’t work this year either. He’s too fast to be kept under wraps for an entire game, the Vikings will feed him the ball, and he’ll break plenty of long runs. He was the #2 running back behind LT for rushing yards and touchdowns in 2007, plus he missed 2 games and split time with Chester Taylor!
Expect Taylor to continue to get carries, but Peterson is the man. If he stays healthy, he’s in for a monster 2008 fantasy football season.
