Willie Parker will have a better 2008 fantasy football season than he did in 2007, you can count on that. He will continue to eat up the yards, but don’t expect him to be held out of the end zone like he was in 2007.
I think he is a steal early in the second round of the draft this year. He plays for the Steelers, an up and coming offensive powerhouse. They are committed to the run, and he is their #1 back, no question. Additionally, they have a dangerous air attack, and defenses cannot stack the box against them. 2 touchdowns last year, no chance that happens again. Fast Willie Parker racked up the yards, and will do so again. Give him 8-10 touchdowns and he’s a rock solid fantasy option at running back. I don’t think that is out of the question.
The only concern I have is his injury. He should be 100% by the time training camp rolls around, keep an eye on him, but I don’t expect any lingering effects. Parker could well slip into the later stages of round 2 this year, his stock is very low due to last season. Take advantage, you’ll be happy you did.
