Plaxico Burress has the potential to be a top 5 fantasy football wide receiver in 2008. I personally like Burress a lot, and see a ton of upside.
If Burress can stay healthy, he can hang with the best of the best. Manning is coming into his own, Toomer has stepped up his play, I like how Smith is coming along, and Shockey should have a bounce back year this year. Additionally, the Giants have a good solid run game. Lots of offensive firepower, and Burress is the clear #1.
In 2007, he caught a dozen touchdowns and had over 1000 yards. This while battling an ankle injury most of the year. Burress should be able to match these numbers, and if he’s healthy all season long, put up even better numbers. The Giants will have a solid offense this season, if Manning steps up his play, they could be an offensive powerhouse. I think Manning is in for a career year stat wise, and Burress will be the main beneficiary of that.
The only downside to Plaxico is his durability. I am not overly concerned, he showed a lot of heart last season, and played through his injury. Burress will slip into the 4th or 5th round in a lot of drafts, and he is a real steal there. I will start looking at him midway through the third round, he is low end number one receiver, with the potential to put up some big games.
