Brandon Marshall is a guy I really like coming into the 2008 fantasy football season.
He blossomed last year with Javon Walker hurt, and held down the number one spot once Walker returned. Marshall impressed the Broncos so much that they cut Walker this off-season, making Marshall the clear cut number one in Denver.
Marshall should put up some large numbers in the 2008 season. I still remember when Rod Smith was a huge fantasy contributor. I expect Marshall to put up Smith type numbers or better this year, and he has a good shot at being a top ten receiver this year.
Denver has a young offense, and this could be the year they put it all together. The potential is there, and with Marshall, the downside is limited.
Even if Denver is not an offensive powerhouse, Marshall is their clear cut number one receiving threat, and will get a number of balls thrown his way each game. He caught 102 balls last year, for 1325 yards and 7 touchdowns. This season will be his third in the league, typically a breakout season for wide receivers.
I could see Marshall with 100+ catches, 1500 yards and double digit touchdowns this year. Marshall is the type of guy you’re going to want on your team this year, and should be a decent value pick depending on how far he falls.
Don’t wait too long to pick him up, it’s possible you may have to use a late third or early fourth rounder to get him. I could see him going as soon as the second round, keep an eye on this guy, he’s in for a great season.
