Deuce McAllister is coming back from another major injury this season, making it a challenge to gauge his fantasy value in 2008.

McAllister is still a young guy, won’t even be 30 when the season starts. He has come back from a major injury before, rushing for over 1,000 yards in his return. Same story here, he is working out, looking good, and should be on the field for the Saints in 2008. Question is his durability.

If Deuce can stay healthy, and if he is fully recovered from this injury, expect a productive year. Bush has shown that he cannot carry the load, the Saints need Deuce in there, and everyone knows it. If he is healthy for the full season, expect his normal 1,000+ yards, and half a dozen touchdowns, maybe more if the Saints offense is flying high.

Even if the Saints bring in another running back, they have been talking with Alexander, expect Deuce to get the nod if he is ready to go. He is a Saint through and through, a fan favorite down there, and if he is healthy, he will be on the field.

Pick him up with a middle round pick, and figure to use him as a number two back with some upside. If you are going to grab Deuce, though, make sure you have some running back depth. Actually, make sure you have some running back depth whether you grab Deuce or not! Deuce is an injury risk, be prepared in case he goes down again.
