Vernon Davis came into the league and was a fashionable sleeper pick, although he has yet to produce the way many thought he would. With the addition of Martz in San Francisco, many thought last year would be it. It was not.
Davis has all the skills, but he is just not the fantasy stud many still believe he is capable of being. The 49ers will find a way to get him more involved in the offense this year, but I would not want to have to rely on him as my number one tight end.
Davis could be a good value pick if he ever lives up to the original expectations. I would not consider drafting him except as a late round flyer based on 2009 fantasy football cheat sheets.
