Brock Bowers*, TE, Georgia
Height: 6-4. Weight: 230.
Projected 40 Time: 4.55.
Projected Round (2024): 1.
9/9/23: Bowers had five catches for 77 yards in the season opener.
7/5/23: In 2022, Bowers recorded 63 receptions for 942 yards and seven touchdowns. He was phenomenal, showing great athleticism, speed, and receiving ability. Bowers was a freshman sensation for the Bulldogs in 2021 and a huge receiving weapon in helping Georgia win its first National Championship since 1980. Immediately, Bowers was a mismatch weapon with excellent speed, athleticism, and run-after-the-catch ability. In 2021, he recorded 56 receptions for 882 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Ja’Tavion Sanders, TE, Texas
Height: 6-3. Weight: 250.
Projected 40 Time: 4.69.
Projected Round (2024): 1-3.
9/9/23: Sanders made two catches for 44 yards and a touchdown taking on Rice.
7/5/23: Sanders emerged as a dangerous receiving weapon in 2022, showing mismatch speed and athleticism. In 2022, he recorded 54 receptions for 613 yards and five touchdowns. Sanders needs to improve as a blocker, but he has upside to be even better in 2023.
Luke Lachey, TE, Iowa
Height: 6-6. Weight: 253.
Projected 40 Time: 4.66.
Projected Round (2024): 2-3.
9/9/23: Lachey is a big tight end who is a tough and physical blocker at the point of attack. Thanks to having enough quickness and athleticism, he is also a capable receiver who can hurt defenses downfield. Lachey had a strong start to the 2023 season against Utah State, putting up seven receptions for 73 yards.
Lachey looks like he has the potential to be a starting Y tight end in the NFL. While paired with Sam LaPorta in 2022, Lachey contributed well, recording 28 catches for 398 yards and four touchdowns.
Erick All, TE, Iowa
Height: 6-5. Weight: 250.
Projected 40 Time: 4.66.
Projected Round (2024): 2-3.
9/9/23: All notched three receptions for 15 yards and a touchdown taking on Utah State.
7/5/23: All went out for the year in 2022 after having undergone successful “life-changing surgery” at the BioSpine Institute in Florida. Some pro team sources thought All was the best tight end prospect for the 2023 NFL Draft prior to him going out for the season. All impressed evaluators with his 2021 season, in which he made 38 catches for 437 yards and two touchdowns. He recorded just three catches for 36 yards for his 2022. The sources who like All believe he is faster and a better blocker than Notre Dame’s Michael Mayer was.
Kamari Morales*, TE, North Carolina
Height: 6-2. Weight: 245.
Projected 40 Time: 4.75.
Projected Round (2024): 4-6.
9/9/23: Morales brought in three catches for 46 yards against South Carolina.
7/5/23: Morales contributed as a receiver for Drake Maye in 2022 with 29 receptions for 358 yards and four touchdowns. In 2021, Morales had 24 catches for 220 yards and five touchdowns.
McCallan Castles*, TE, Tennessee
Height: 6-5. Weight: 240.
Projected 40 Time: 4.75.
Projected Round (2024): 6-FA.
9/9/23: Castles made one catch for 16 yards in the 2023 opener.
7/5/23: Castles showed some receiving potential in 2022 (30-347-2) and 2021 (27-387-4). It would help him to impress at an all-star game against better competition after the 2023 season.
Elijah Arroyo, TE, Miami
Height: 6-4. Weight: 235.
Projected 40 Time: 4.70.
Projected Round (2024): 4-6.
9/9/23: Arroyo recorded five catches for 66 yards in Miami’s opener.
7/5/23: Arroyo has some physical talent, but he has yet to break out. With Will Mallory in the NFL, Arroyo could take over as the starting tight end for Miami.
Devin Culp, TE, Washington
Height: 6-4. Weight: 244.
Projected 40 Time: 4.70.
Projected Round (2024): 7-FA.
9/9/23: Culp opened the season with five yards on one reception.
7/5/23: In 2022, Culp turned 29 receptions into 266 yards and one touchdown. He is sleeper who has the potential to rise.
Arik Gilbert*, TE, Nebraska
Height: 6-5. Weight: 248.
Projected 40 Time: 4.50.
Projected Round (2024): 7-FA.
9/9/23: Gilbert did not record any stats in the season-opening loss to Minnesota. His eligibility is in question, and in the preseason, Gilbert was arrested for burglary.
7/5/23: In the scouting community, Gilbert has been known to be a freak athlete with a special skill set for years. He started out his collegiate career at LSU before a winding transfer process that went through Florida and ended up at Georgia. Gilbert did not play in 2021, and 2020 was his only season of play thus far, with 35 catches for 368 yards and two touchdowns. In 2022, Gilbert was behind Brock Bowers and Darnell Washington. Gilbert caught two passes for 16 yards and a touchdown. After the season, he transferred to Nebraska.
Gilbert has character concerns, but he is said to have a tremendous skill set. That physical talent saw NFL advance scouts giving him an early-round projection entering the 2022 season.
