For those who have not played fantasy football in the past,
the rules are simple! Scoring is set up prior to the
draft, and you draft a team of players that will perform
well with that scoring system.
Each week you select a starting
lineup, and you get points based on your scoring system.
Some leagues play head to head, so if you score more points
than your opponent, you win that week. Other leagues
play a total points system where the team with the most
points at the end of the season is the winner.
Either way, it is
important to know and understand your scoring system.
For example, most leagues give 6 points for rushing or
receiving touchdowns and 4 points for passing touchdowns.
If your league gives 6 points for passing touchdowns as
well, quarterbacks will be more valuable and you need to
draft accordingly. |
For those who have played fantasy football in the past, but
have not won, there are likely a few reasons. Knowing
how to play fantasy football is more than simply knowing how
to set a line up each week. Instead, it is managing
your team week in and week out, as well as doing your
homework prior to the draft.
Having a great draft is a sure
way to ensure a solid team, but picking up undrafted players
throughout the season is just as important, and perhaps even
more so.
Remember the year Kurt
Warner broke onto the scene? He was not drafted in
leagues that year, but was the top scorer by the end of the
season. Teams who picked him up really scored, and he
was the reason many teams won their championship that year. |
